Resources and workshops for not-for-profits
We’ve been privileged to work with not-for-profit organisations of all shapes and sizes and we noticed that while groups vary widely in their structure, capacity and goals, they share similar challenges too. We recognise that one of these challenges is sourcing good resources at little or no cost.
That’s why we’ve put together this short list of budget (and free) capacity development opportunities and resource hubs for your community group or not-for-profit organisation.
The Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) not only regulates charitable organisations in Australia, they offer a free online learning program which is designed to support leadership and accountability in the charity sector. If you are on the board or committee of a charity, or in another leadership role, the online training is designed to boost the skills and expertise you need to effectively perform the role.
Justice Connect hosts a range of training and webinars at reasonable prices for the not-for-profit sector. Upcoming webinars include ‘Understanding Your Constitution’ and ‘Social Media and the Law’.
If your not-for-profit engages with volunteers, the Volunteering Resource Hub is an initiative of Volunteering Australia, funded by the Australian Government Department of Social Services. It brings together over 350 useful, evidence-based and current best practice resources, tools, research and information to support effective volunteer management across Australia.
Philanthropy University is an online capacity-building platform that supports a thriving global community dedicated to locally-led, sustainable change. Members gain access to online courses, perks, mentors, and resources that help non profits make a more meaningful impact. There are a variety of free online courses available in the fields of fundraising specialisation, advocacy, branding and many more.
Finally, right here at Wombat Creative we have a host of free resources on our website. Our face-to-face or online courses are designed to build skills so that your community continues to thrive. We offer a range of tailored courses in the areas of grant writing, communications and social media, volunteer engagement, governance and strategic planning.
